Hello! My name is Tyler Rodda. Currently, I have a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and am studying to secure my master’s at the University of Idaho. As an undergraduate student I was a teaching assistant for our Intro to Architecture class, where I mentored students and contributed to organizing class activities and assignments. As a maintenance craft specialist me and two other gentlemen serviced 150 apartment units. Here I learned a lot about efficient management, practiced a variety of trades and strengthened my analytical skills. In July 2022 I took the opportunity to study abroad in England. I spent a month there studying Green urbanism, where I got to meet and talk with Susan Roaf, Cullinan Architects, Groupwork Architects, and AHMM Architects just to name a few. I got to visit places like the Cambridge Central Mosque, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the Weald & Downland Museum. Overall, it was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Upon my return to the states, I was notified that two groupmates and I had won an AIA Award for our project “Opening the home: An Apsáalooke Cultural Center.” This was an amazing project in which we got to meet and work with Elders from the Crow Nation Tribe, alongside Daniel Glenn, Owner of 7 Directions Architects. (Listed below in Projects)Aside from wanting to travel more, I want to learn. To become an architect is being able to never stop learning. Which is why I value the journey over the destination. As tough as it may be, I believe every opportunity has something to be learned. My current philosophy of architecture values Receptivity, Efficacy, Passion, and Humbleness. As a very mindful and detailed oriented individual, I am really interested in contributing to healthier building and living standards. I am a proactive designer that appreciates conscientious building design.Accomplishments and philosophy aside, I am a very friendly person. In the times when it is necessary I value my personal time. I have a black cat named Salem who is the laziest floof around. I love to research and read. I am particularly interested in dystopian fiction and anything that has to do with history. In the winters you can find me on the slopes of the nearest mountain or gaming it with my friends online. Throughout the year I indulge in photography and my creative outlets like building projects (ranging from wood to Legos) and drawing. I appreciate a healthy lifestyle, I love to cook, and whenever possible I always take time to listen to other peoples’ stories.
