I am a recent Electrical and Computer Engineering PhD graduate with an emphasis in Photonics at the University of California, Santa Cruz in the Applied Optics Group under Dr. Holger Schmidt. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers, I have become a skilled optical researcher with expansive experience in visible and NIR lasers, optical setups, and optical characterization. Additionally, I have become well-versed in micro- and optofluidic device development, fabrication, and testing through single particle fluorescence biosensing.During my PhD, I developed reconfigurable optofluidic distributed feedback dye laser sources and lab-on-chip biosensor systems primarily on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) platforms. I also have experience testing silicon-based optofluidic chips. I was able to serve as our Laboratory Safety Rep for 4 years, expanding my management skills of onboarding/training new lab members as well as upkeep of equipment and chemical inventories. Additionally, I ensured compliance with EH&S safety standards, notably with 7+ active laser setups. In addition to optofluidic and microfluidic device development, I have a great interest in exploring broader laser technologies and applications such as lidar and 3D printing.
