The highlight of studying economics at Northwestern is the ability to explore not only the classes in my major but other diverse subjects in the humanities, which ultimately defines who I am as an individual. I have the skills to and can analyze company data, but I can go beyond the pure numerical results, and present my findings effectively, both orally and in a written presentation of knowledge. No matter who I talk to, no matter their skillset, I can display my analysis in a manner they will understand, regardless of whether I must pass along the information to a superior, peer, or even an executive.I’ve had experience with both financial and written data in Microsoft Excel, and because of my proficiency with both quantitative and qualitative information, I can comprehend and uncover the most important takeaways from the provided content. Even if what I am given is unclear initially, I can use my creativity and attention to detail, also developed through the liberal arts program at Northwestern, to make sense of what I see in front of me.My creativity and versatile skill set also means that I can work in many different departments, and can tackle projects that do not just speak to someone who specializes in one field or specific area. I want to improve the efficiency of wherever they work, whether that be financially, logistically, or using my consumer experience to understand why the company may or may not have success in a certain field or with a certain product. I have used my unique perspective and my analytical skills to execute many projects, finding more productive ways to work while giving my superiors the data needed to proceed with their roles. No matter who I do work for, I will always find a way to complete my analysis and explain my decisions in a way that aligns with task’s objective, which supervisors can use with colleagues and superiors, no matter how high up in the organization. My work has been or will be presented to chief officers, which means that my analysis is accurate and understandable, no matter their area of expertise.
