My name is Tyler Bilbo, and I am from a small town in North Idaho. When I was younger, I started learning how to play guitar and I formed a small band. We found a studio, recorded our first CD, and I was fascinated by the process. That is what sparked me to want to become a recording engineer myself someday. I feel that doing what you love for work is one of the most important things. I went to school at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences and I received a very thorough education in all things audio. I learned about microphones, consoles, DAWs, dynamic and time-based processing, studio etiquette, and so much more. They do a very good job teaching, and during my time there I was able to assist on a lot of sessions and got quite a bit of good experience overcoming obstacles and troubleshooting. I lived in Arizona for two years and during my time there, as well as while I went through school, I worked for Verizon Wireless as a sales consultant. Being on time is very important to me, so I was always 10 or 15 minutes early to my shift and stayed late if I had to. Every day my job was to provide the best customer service possible, and 80 percent of my day was troubleshooting issues and helping teach people about technology. I learned a lot about patience, as well as finding out what people want and being able to make them happy. I also have worked for 7 seasons in Alaska as a commercial fisherman on the Bering Sea. I learned about stamina and discipline. We had to work for as much as 36 hours straight and sleep for only an hour or two and then go back at it again. Even being exhausted I still had to perform at the top of my game. I learned about respect and teamwork and the importance of hard work and great work ethic.
