During my time as an AMI EIT at ATCO, my main responsibility was coordinating the deployment of a radio network in 5 regions so AMI meters were able to communicate. This task also allowed me to commission and troubleshoot with the Landis and Gyr N2450 Series 5 Gateway that allowed for communication. Other responsibilities included coordinating with the warehouse to disperse radio and meter materials, helping set up a UAT enviroment to test communication/trouble shooting techniques for AMI meters, and going into the field to get feedback on trouble points while installing equipment.

During my employment I updated base drawings to include new equipment as well as changing certain aspects of the drawing that were officially adopted but not changed in the base drawings. As new security regulations were announced, I helped edit SCADA drawings to keep up with the new security regulations. Through these activities I had to work closely with other groups which improved my communication skills.

Throughout my employment I was tasked with keeping the trouble log updated and organized so ATCO can look back for future research purposes. Along with the trouble calls, I helped draft a drawing to upgrade equipment at a substation. This task helped me improve my drafting skills in MicroStation PowerDraft which I feel I can translate to other CADD software. Near the end of my employment, I started to work on a SCADA portal that would give information about different substations which you could access through your phone.

During my employment, I mainly helped with updating ATCO's relay lists that are currently in use. I also created a manual on how to update a relay from the field. During this task, I also had to test the upgrading software by familiarizing myself with Schweitzer relays. I gained a lot of knowledge of how a utility company runs as well as gaining some insight on different types of engineering groups (Telecom, SCADA, Protection and Control, etc.).
