I moved back to Texas in September 2024 after living four years in Wisconsin. During those four years, I gained valuable experience that altered the course of my education and future career path. After graduating high school, I had the dream of getting a film degree and getting a career in directing. However, my priorities shifted once I started as an Associated Banker at Chase Bank. This was the first time I was able to utilize my financial skills alongside my special interest in economics. This was where I made the decision to switch my major to business, and then I eventually decided on obtaining a bachelor's degree in accounting.When I was in Wisconsin, I attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, which offered many experiences for students enrolled in the College of Business. They provided many networking opportunities, and the school brought in many businesses throughout Wisconsin to meet with their students. This was where I found an internship opportunity at CLA, an accounting firm. I gained valuable office experience working with tax professionals during the busy season.I also spent much of my time as a board member of our Accounting Club. I held positions such as the Student Chapter IMA Representative, Marketing Executive, and Student & Alumni Relations Representative. The most valuable position, in my opinion, was the Student & Alumni position because I was able to work closely with the Dean of the College of Business along with other student leaders. This was where I learned about the opportunity of the College of Business Academic Senator for our student government. I took on this role because I could be a voice for our student body and have opportunities to work with our administration regarding various issues on campus. This position offered other experiences, such as going to Madison, Wisconsin, and speaking with the President of the UW System. During these meetings, we also got to work with other student governments in the UW System and learned how they were dealing with the issues they were experiencing on their own campus.There's so much that I didn't get to touch on about my journey of living in Wisconsin, but I am very grateful for the opportunities I received. Due to a personal situation, I had to move back to Texas while leaving my job, home, and school behind. Although I'm starting over, I am excited to continue my education and hope to find opportunities that will allow me to continue my experience in business, accounting, and finance. After everything, my dedication and passion are more vital than ever.
