I currently serve as TechNet's executive director for the Midwest, representing the policy interests of our 100+ member companies in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. In addition to the eight states that I currently cover, I have also previously covered legislative activity in West Virginia, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri. As executive director for the Midwest, I have advocated on issues such as data privacy and security, education and workforce development, energy, fintech, diversity and inclusion, new technologies and the future of work, automated vehicles, procurement, smart infrastructure, and taxation.

In January 2017, I took on a new role at the Illinois Chamber as the director of legislative relations. During my time, I worked closely with the Chamber President and CEO and the various Executive Directors of Chamber's policy councils to help ensure the competitiveness of Chamber members at the Illinois legislature. As director of legislative relations, I lead the Chamber's Government Affairs team on all legislative and advocacy matters. I also launched the Chamber's Technology and Innovation Council. The Technology Council was one of the fastest growing Councils within the Chamber. The Council continues to aggressively and proactively promote the interests of the Illinois technology community by advocating for public policy that fosters innovation and promotes economic growth. The Council remains a functioning council within the Illinois Chamber. During my tenure as executive director of the Technology Council, I have worked on issues such as data privacy, artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, data breach notification, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Most recently, I was successful in leading a coalition of technology stakeholders in passing legislation to bring Illinois in line with 30 other states by offering sales and income tax incentives for data center companies. The legislation was hailed as one of the most monumental economic development incentives of the last decade. I have testified in front of several House and Senate Committees including the House Revenue and Finance Committee, the House Cybersecurity Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee on behalf of the Chamber and its members. In addition, I have appeared in various media outlets, including but not limited to, local TV and radio, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Chicago Tribune, and many more.

Springfield, Illinois Area

In January 2016, I joined to the the Illinois Chamber as the director of advocacy. As director of advocacy, I was tasked with garnering public support for Chamber causes and policies. Most notably was helping the Chamber's efforts to secure the passage of an amendment to the Illinois Constitution. The 'Safe Roads Amendment' was a Chamber-initiative that amended the state's constitution to protect transportation funding by requiring monies taken in from transportation revenue sources be spent for transportation purposes only. Prior to the amendment, Illinois lawmakers had diverted more than $6 billion in one decade away from transportation projects that consequently cost Illinois businesses and users of our transportation system. During the campaign, I was responsible with managing the 'Businesses for Safe Roads' website, social media ad and email campaign. Our targeted social media ads reached over 330k business voters in Illinois. The voting electorate overwhelming approved the measure by a 4 to 1 margin or 78% of those voting on the question.

During my time at the Illinois Senate, I staffed the Senate Local Government Committee for the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus. As a legislative analyst, I analyzed and drafted legislation in the subject area of local government as it pertained to Illinois. During my tenure with the Senate Republican Caucus, I built relationships with several respective stakeholder groups and state legislators. It was my privilege in providing my analyses to members of the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus.
