During this time I became the tech lead for the SRE team (2+ years), owned the technical strategy and quality for the team. Worked very closely with SRE manager and other colleagues to drive roadmap and executionDuring this time the team tackled the following - Migration to new Kafka cluster and included ACLs - Major Kubernetes version upgrades and maintenance - Enhancements to our deploy process - Maintained our ES systems (later handed off to a sister team) - Migrated all images from gitlab registry to ECR - Simplified our gitlab infrastructure - Rolled out StrongDM and accompanying policies to access production resources - Rolled out linkerd service mesh - Rolled out a canary solution for kubernetes deployments - Start of a slackbot to automate common SRE asks. - OS upgrades and general maintenance - Made continuous improvements to our CI/CD process

Manage one of the 2 SRE teams, my team was focused on providing a stable platform that everything was built upon, from Kubernetes and AWS, to adding features to our tooling. We wrote some tooling on allowing temporary access to resources on a case-per-case basis, automatically calculated our time to resolution for incidents and was responsible for the overall AWS bill and all infrastructure decisions.

Our customers at Podium as a SRE team, are the developers, we are always striving to let enable them to be as productive as they can be while keeping separation of duties intact.We have built out and migrated to a full Kubernetes deployment pipeline, along with the necessary components like Prometheus for monitoring/metrics and Gitlab for CI/CD.This has been helped along with tools such as Terraform, Bash, Golang etc.
