I love to learn. And to teach.I love learning so much that if I could get paid to go to school and learn for the rest of my life, I would. And I can't help but educate others in the things I learn when I feel I know something that could enhance someone's life or work experience. I don't plan to pursue an academic career (strange, right?), so I take these inclinations wherever I go.Once I understand how to complete a new task, one of my favorite things to do is to make observations and ask questions to refine my new skillset. Why do we do something this way, and not that way? What is the intended goal of this task, and could there be a more effective way to complete it? Why does this mistake continue to occur, and what needs to be done to prevent it? With nearly every job I've held, this inquisitive, investigative nature of mine has enabled me to accumulate best practices that made my supervisors take notice and ask me to replicate it by training others. That's why I consistently received 3.8/4.0 on class evaluations teaching as a GSA for EWU each quarter; why I rapidly outgrew my entry-level mortgage role as Transaction Coordinator (TC) and ended up in roles training TCs, Processing Assistants, and Loan Officers; and why I was promoted to Sales Lead a mere 5 months after being hired as a seasonal Live Goods Sales worker. It's also the reason I received the President's Club Award for selling over $12K in two months as a Sales Representative and passed the NMLS Nat'l SAFE exam with a 92%. I always seem to find little ways to increase efficiency (e.g., time-blocking to maintain singular focus on one task), to save time (e.g., creation of quick-reference job aids for teammates), and to proliferate high-quality outcomes (e.g., assisting my team to close up to 88 loans [avg. $750K/ea] for 2 consecutive months in 2020). It's true. I may have 11 years cumulative experience applying my customer service, problem-solving, and active listening skills (among others) in the restaurant industry, 6 years in mortgage, and a little over two years in horticulture, but these numbers very well could be in any field. That's what makes me a great candidate for many positions in just about any field. Give me the tools, teach me the methods and context, and I will find ways to return your investment in me tenfold. I just can't help it!Top 5 VIA Character Strengths: 1. Judgment, critical thinking, and open-mindedness2. Fairness, equity, and justice3. Appreciation of beauty and excellence4. Honesty, authenticity, and genuineness5. Love of learning

Greenhouse Sales AssociateSky Nursery Feb 2024 - Nov 2024Shoreline, Washington, United StatesAs a Greenhouse Sales Associate, I wore several hats. I had a hat for customer service and sales, one for visual merchandising, another for inventory management and stocking, and yet another for early-morning watering shifts. I often needed to think creatively to shift things around to make room for more inventory, and then find a way for it to appear aesthetically pleasing--even designed. I also took phone calls to answer every question under the sun about plants and prepare orders and holds, ensuring clear communication so that nothing gets overlooked. It was a pretty active role, especially during the busiest months of the year March through June, involving maintaining attention to detail even while moving constantly with heavy lifting.I left voluntarily to move to Gig Harbor and start fresh. -
Retail Sales LeadMolbak'S Garden + Home Feb 2023 - Jan 2024Woodinville, Washington, United StatesI was entrusted with the boots-on-the-ground task of co-leading a team of over 50 employees, directing them to be in the best location, on the right task, at the right time. This required that I establish a mutual relationship of trust with the team, which I found to be sometimes difficult as a younger person managing seasoned veterans. Notwithstanding, I believe I gained that trust leading by example, often assisting employees with the very tasks I assigned them and demonstrated how to engage customers with fact-finding questions to direct them to products that met their needs. I owned up to mistakes I made as I navigated managing for the first time, and made every effort to communicate expectations and feedback clearly and constructively. Many times I educated employees in new tasks, products, protocols, and tech systems, and directed them as needed to attend to product management as I monitored inventory levels and merchandizing presentation. I also navigated difficult customers with charm and dignity, especially once news was out that Molbak's would shut its doors at the end of January 2024. Many from the community came to the store in varying emotional states, and I was able to attend to their needs empathetically and creatively while still holding firm on company policy. -
Live Goods Sales And StockingMolbak'S Garden + Home Aug 2022 - Jan 2023Woodinville, Washington, United StatesManagement at Molbak's directed my primary focus as a Live Goods Sales Associate toward actively engaging customers to ensure they felt welcome and so that by listening carefully I could ascertain how to best assist them. Asking the right questions, I would then suggest products that would benefit the customer, increase odds of success, and/or would best suite their desires (ideal color, size, function, etc.). Any time I was unsure of the answer to a customer question, I was not ashamed to call out on the radio for assistance, and I listened carefully to learn from their answer. Afterward, I would often conduct additional research into the topic in question to round out my understanding. I believe that the enthusiasm I demonstrated for plants helped people enjoy them, too. What is more, I developted a proficiency operating POS system from less than one month from hire. -
Regional Loan Solutions Specialist | Lender Guideline Research, Income Calculation, PricingCornerstone Home Lending, Inc. Feb 2022 - Jun 2022Lynnwood, Washington, United StatesAs a member of the Western Region's two-person "Solutions Team," we regularly calculated risk and resolved problem loan scenarios of all kinds from the region's production team, directing them to lender guidelines, assisting with niche and wholesale products and pricing on Optimal Blue, and walking them through complex mortgage income calculations over Teams screen-share. In my spare time, I overhauled the Solutions Team’s internal Sharepoint webpage with 100+ sub-pages of critical resources to our region's more than 50 Loan Officers, providing clarification on brokering loans, niche loan products, regional overlays, and frequently-asked guideline questions. In only 4 months, I noticeably improved the accuracy of at least 5 LOs among those who frequently requested income calculation assistance. -
Regional Operations Onboarding Specialist | Curriculum Development, Job Aid Production, WebinarsCornerstone Home Lending, Inc. Apr 2021 - Feb 2022Lynnwood, Washington, United StatesIn this role, I gave structure to an amorphous and inconsistent regional onboarding model. While it was our region’s Training and Professional Enrichment Director’s responsibility to address the minutiae of onboarding (I-9s, coordinating IT setup, etc.), it was my responsibility to schedule live training sessions with me or with corporate trainers to cover using the LOS, locating resources on the intranet, questions about internal policy and procedure, and the expected tasks and responsibilities assigned to their role. In the course of just under a year, I onboarded 9 new hires (8 Ops, 1 Production) and provided transitional training for 17 promoted individuals in both one-on-one and group sessions. When I wasn't actively training, I hosted continuing education / refresher webinars on topics ranging from disclosures to income calculations, continually updated a OneNote central hub for regional resources, and produced internal job aids, such as an RSU Income calculation job aid that was widely disseminated and effective in producing accurate calculations. -
Processing Assistant | Pre-Underwriting Review, Pre-Closing Audit, Vendor Follow-UpCornerstone Home Lending, Inc. Dec 2016 - Apr 2021Lynnwood, Washington, United StatesI worked over 4 years with Cornerstone’s number-one production team (Team Crowell) in the Western Region (and often company-wide). In this position, I gained critical skills managing a monthly pipeline of 40-50 loans, even up to 88 loans (avg $750K/loan) for a couple of months in 2020. My daily tasks included pipeline status reporting, pre-underwriting file reviews; interpreting, requesting, and uploading underwriter conditions; and preparing the file for submission to closing for initial CD. Many times, it was my responsibility to follow up with borrowers for requested documentation and to explain why we needed it.During this time, I also acquired expertise in navigating lender guidelines and calculating even the most complex income, and was frequently recruited to onboard new hire Transaction Coordinators and Processing Assistants. Over time, I was able to discern what was most important to my processor so as to establish a routine that addressed her needs before she even asked about them, which formed a strong bond of trust and accountability that enabled us to be as efficient as a well-oiled machine. -
Transaction Coordinator | Loan File Validation, Regulatory Disclosures, Vendor Follow-UpCornerstone Home Lending, Inc. Mar 2016 - Dec 2016Lynnwood, Washington, United StatesCompletely green to the industry, in a matter of 9 short months I learned the essentials of regulatory disclosures and minimum documentation requirements for processing the loan. In this role I utilized public records and requested critical documentation such as Title Reports, Verifications of Employment and Homeowner's Insurance Binders to organize, investigate, and validate the information provided by the borrower(s) and the Loan Officer. Vendors and interested parties did not always respond to these requests right away, so it was my responsibility to follow up with them in a professional manner until the requested documentation was received.I exceeded my manager's expectations completing up to 8 setups per day with incredible attention to detail. I believe my meticulous diligence, persistent thoughtfulness to increase efficiency, and willingness to serve others outside of one's own workload or job description aided me to rapidly outgrow this entry-level role. -
Day & Banquet Server (& Busser) | Warm Sales, Customer Service, Food ServiceAnthony'S Homeport Seafood Restaurant Aug 2015 - Mar 2016Everett, WaI transferred to the Everett Homeport location and continued to refine my serving skills. I managed and timed all phases of the fine dining experience utilizing my skills and knowledge acquired in Spokane in sales scripting, up-selling, alcohol law and history of production, till balancing, restaurant software, order- and time-management, and menu product items. Once again, I frequently managed up to 6 tables individually or a full 20+ person banquet room on a team. My favorite part about serving was when I had sufficient time to get to know my guests and not just bring them food. It was mutually enriching to share what I knew of the restaurant and geographic area and to learn from guests from all over the world--all while perfectly timing each course of their meals to their great satisfaction. I was able to work with difficult guests in a calming, empathetic, and dignifying manner, working with my managers to find solutions that boosted their overall satisfaction and retained their loyalty.

Banquet & Day Server | Warm Sales, Customer Service, Food ServiceAnthony'S Homeport Seafood Restaurant Apr 2015 - Jul 2015Spokane, Washington, United StatesHaving led fellow bussers for several years, my manager thought it was time for me to transition into serving. I then underwent a rigorous 2-month curriculum taught by my manager in which I learned the essentials of sales scripting, up-selling, alcohol law and history of production, till balancing, restaurant software, order- and time-management, and menu product knowledge. I had the opportunity to acquire taste-testing and -description skills to notice and articulate even the smallest notes of flavors in wine, beer, hard alcohols, and every food item on the menu--including seasonal ones. After this, I was well-equipped to take on afternoon and banquet serving shifts. I frequently managed up to 6 tables individually or a full 30+ person banquet room on a team. I combined my time-management and multi-tasking skills from bussing with my newly acquired skills unique to serving and often finished my shifts with sales in the upper hundreds and low thousands range.

Busser, Expediter, Foodrunner | Table-Setting, Water Refills, Plate GarnishmentAnthony'S Homeport Seafood Restaurant Jul 2014 - Jul 2015Spokane, WashingtonAs a busser, I cleaned and reset tables, attended to the needs of up to 5 servers and their guests, and refilled beverages all in a timely, efficient manner. Bussing required that my coworkers and I work as a team in a strategically planned, time-efficient manner. I simultaneously attended to present needs and prepared for future needs; I maintained the detailed quality of my work even as I achieved an immense quantity of work. In order to lead my coworkers, I had to be the best; in order to be the best, I had to constantly improve upon present methods and develop newer, more efficient ones. In this way, I learned to assess and reorganize information quickly, in order to make the best decisions appropriate to the situation. As an expediter/food runner, I assured servers of a quality aesthetic, proper proportion, and accurate provision according to guest's request of each meal. I did this by ornamenting each plate with a garnish, cleaning spills and stray food, and organizing each plate in the window according to importance and earliest request to send out first. I would then carry out multiple plates directly to the guest in a timely, yet dignified, manner. I named each meal with any specific modifications and provided a detailed account of key ingredients.I am naturally inclined to find ways to improve my routines with best practices. My managers took note and made me the lead busser so that I might train others to duplicate my work ethic. I frequently trained-up new bussers to be independent in less than 1-2 weeks.

Teacher And Graduate Student Assistant | Teach Classes, Curriculum Development, Student GradingEastern Washington University Sep 2012 - Jun 2014Cheney, WaAs a teacher, I taught several classes of up to 55 students about the history and development of Western civilization and its impact on the arts, in particular: music. I also helped my voice students discover the vocal potential within them, educated them in vocal physiology, anatomy, and psychology, gave them tools and experiences to sing healthily and freely, and taught them to recognize that health and freedom in other singers. I innovated curricula for these non-music students to convert dreaded prerequisites into courses where students show up eager to learn. I consistently received 3.8 out of 4.0 and above in class evaluations. -
