I designed and presented webinars on how to use social media as an advantage for high schoolers applying to college as well as tips for using social media safely while away from home. When it comes to education for Army Reserve families, I served as a "go to guy" for resources.

120Th Public Affairs Detachment

Responsible for the training and operational activities of the Indiana Army National Guard's only public affairs unit. Leading a team of Soldiers equipped and capable of creating journalistic video and print products that can be distributed world-wide. Developing schedules to cover military events around Indiana and maintaining the inventory of our equipment. Providing guidance to my team on covering events, best practices for utilizing social media, issuing deadlines and communicating to executive officers the benefit of public affairs to their organizations. All training designed is focused on keeping us ready to deploy as PA professionals for any mission we receive within 24 hours.Empowering my team so they can bring back the best products so they can tell the Guard story!

Fort Leavenworth

Six months fixed contract. Spokesperson for organization. Conducted public affairs planning and analysis for the commander. The only public affairs Soldier for an organization that hosted the Army's largest Warfighter exercises to date during the summer of 2014. Wrote stories, captured photographs of events and maintained the social media for organization.Planned the visits of media and distinguished visitors. Responsible for registering all audio/visual equipment while operating under Secret training environment. Constantly worked to increase the public awareness of the objectives and obligations for the organization.Other accomplishments are listed below.

38Th Combat Aviation Brigade

As PAO for the 38th CAB I was the social media administrator for five unit locations and over 900 Soldiers. While designing and implementing an online communications program, I wrote stories, took photos and constantly analyzed future operations for opportunities to show the community what the CAB does.During this time I developed portions of the social media training program used by the Indiana Army National Guard, advised commanders at all levels on public affairs matters, briefed families on proper social media usage and established a relationship with the local media to help communicate CAB activities. I trained public affairs representatives deploying to Kosovo and Kuwait resulting in timely photos and stories used to help the commander’s task to inform.

Provided the university with guidance on keeping a "Military Friendly" brand. I helped transitioning veterans with finding financial options for school, helping them discover their learning style and motivations for going to school. Coordinated internal marketing strategies such as blogs to promote student success stories and hosted recruiting events to ensure the right candidates were selected for the right degree plans.While maintaining an in-depth knowledge of VA benefits, I helped veterans with resolving VA Education related issues. All of this was done throughout Indiana and Kentucky military facilities where I gave motivational speeches and presentations on higher education.- Month of Military Child Committee for Indiana member.

U.S. History and World Civilizations teacher for Simon Youth Foundation's Pacers Academy.My students took field trips to Lucas Oil Stadium and a National Guard Armory. At this position I became a behavior management strategist for at risk youths aged 15-18. My classroom instruction involved and presentations and Interdisciplinary curriculum design, combined with technology from SMART and Apple.I took on the responsibility of distributing and accounting for all student computers in program and helped teachers with incorporating Blackboard Learn Angel edition to enhance their classroom instruction.

Butlerville, Indiana

Assisted in planning and rehearsals of tours for military dignitaries to market academy such as the Assistant Secretary of the Army and the Acting Director of the National Guard. Became certified by the DoD to admin social media platforms; responsible for communicating with units from all 54 states and territories. Taught social media best practices to incoming students and company leaders. I was the sole photographer and social media administrator. Provided staff with messages/themes for community relations engagements during the academy’s closure. My photography and stories were used by the National Guard Bureau’s marketing team to communicate the Guard’s story (I reached thousands of people)! Received Army Commendation and Achievement Medal for my service to the Academy.

With the Tennessee National Guard I got my first exposure to public relations overseas. I learned driving over barley fields in Iraq can upset people when it’s their cash crop. Driving over barley is like driving over corn. I learned about communicating intent and more about working with people you want to help.
