Our project, in partnership with the Denver Office of Community Violence Solutions, aims to democratize access to crime data by providing violence intervention specialists with real-time access to information traditionally limited to law enforcement. The core goal is to empower community-led efforts, enabling faster and more informed responses to crimes, particularly in reducing gang violence and retaliations.A critical component of this initiative is the deployment of low-cost gunshot sensors across the city. These sensors play a vital role in delivering real-time crime data to intervention workers, who rely on timely information to prevent further violence. However, since crime hotspots are dynamic and continually shifting, determining the optimal placement of these sensors requires forecasting. By leveraging spatiotemporal forecasting techniques, we can anticipate how hotspots are likely to shift, ensuring that the sensors provide maximum coverage in the areas that need it most.My Contributions: • Developed a spatiotemporal graph neural network (STGNN) for long-term crime hotspot forecasting, using GRUs for temporal processing, Diffusion Convolution for spatial propagation, and linear transformations for encoding and decoding, with node embeddings to create a global-local model. • Helped develop and implement a novel time series integral transform technique to address the challenges of sparse data in time series forecasting. • Conducted empirical tests comparing our STGNN-based approach with traditional methods such as RNN and LSTM, demonstrating the advantages of our model.

As director of the popular swim lesson program at my local pool, I worked to streamline and automate the scheduling process while considering tradeoffs between customer and instructor interests. My responsibilities include communicating with customers, allocating instructors to fill demand for group lessons, training and managing a staff of over 20 instructors, doing payroll for my instructor staff, marketing to pool patrons, and handling scheduling and rescheduling of hundreds of lessons per week. I built a multi-page React website to host a new scheduling system done through Calendly, and created a web application to automate payroll by outputting a spreadsheet with data for the hours worked each day by each employee over the course of a pay period.
