As Appnovation's SproutCore architect, I assisted the development team in creating high performance web applications. My key roles were designing robust and maintainable software structures for each application, introducing advanced software development patterns based on client-side MVC, reviewing code and pairing with developers to tackle complex interdependencies as well as providing general training and support to the team on the SproutCore framework.In plain English, this meant I acted as the expert on high performance web application development.Clients: Kobo, Wheelz (RelayRides), Nest Labs, NewsCred, AutoApp LLC

I played a few different roles at Strobe during their start up phase, but primarily I supported several large clients to develop their SproutCore applications as well as I worked on Strobe’s internal applications.As part of my role, I also contributed to the improvement of the SproutCore framework and provided support to the open source community.

This position was both a technical leadership and technical resource position. As the lead technical person, I was expected to research and provide additional information to help shape our group’s product strategy. In particular at the initial stages of a project, I provided guidance on trends in technology and the capabilities of today’s software and hardware and during later stages, I provided a lot of design and user experience guidance.As a technical resource, I also worked directly on the products we determined would be successful projects, including writing the first version of the Rider App for iPhone and the first version of the myCentrex web application as well as mentoring junior developers who worked on the mySask App for iPhone and the Rider App for Blackberry.

My role at Atimi was as a senior software developer and I worked on a small project related to a calendaring application for Mac OS, but spent the majority of my time contracted out to a large European company, helping to write their professional photographer's image storage and manipulation software for Mac OS.During my time at Atimi, we released one major update to the application and several minor releases.

Key roles at SaskTel during this time were as a Technical Architect, as a Project Manager and as a Mentor for interns and junior Engineers.I spent a lot of time evaluating products and vendor proposals, doing research on networking technologies and testing SaskTel's network. Amongst the many projects that I contributed to, one of the largest was when I acted as a Technical Lead on the HomeNet project, which replaced SaskTel's High Speed Internet modems with wireless Home Gateways.Beyond the technical research, I put many hours into service design and development work supporting projects in SaskTel to implement a Service Oriented Architecture. One of my key contributions was to focus on taking ownership of the customer facing interfaces and in support of that I created several mocks, proofs-of-concept and functional applications with user interfaces that could replace the generic and incompatible vendor versions.Another long term task that I performed was to manage a large phase of the CommunityNet project, which re-purposed old High Speed Internet backend equipment into smaller communities across the entire province of Saskatchewan.
