Currently working to derive closed form time dependent solutions for mode shapes of vibrations within beams subject to various loadings. Upon completion, I will work to formulate results into paper for publication.

Designed and constructed apparatus to hold IR and high-speed cameras with degrees of freedom in x,y and z directions inside of 18” Recirculating Wind Tunnel. Prior to construction, performed vibrational and bending moment analysis to optimize design of apparatus.

Laboratory and experiment design for nanotechnology start-up

Guided by comparisons of established behaviors performed/expressed by nonhuman primates (NHPs) in their natural habitats and the behaviors observed of NHPs at the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC), I participated in the conceptualization, design, construction, testing and, provided positive test results, implementation of environmental enrichment items for the NHPs at the ONPRC. The primary purpose/goal of these enrichment items is to provide conditions that afford the NHPs opportunities to express species-typical behaviors and reduce stress. Personally, my focus is developing and implementing a dynamic feeding system that encourages foraging, as well as, pen/corral features that mimic the natural habitats of the NHPs.

Led team of student researchers with the goal of assembling, preparing and operating a Rb^(85) magneto-optical trap (MOT) to be used for a variety of applications, including quantum information experiments and the study and manipulation of ultra-cold molecular gases. Personal project highlights and achievements:• Configured and optimized saturated absorption setup utilizing grating-tuned piezo driven laser diode oscillators • Performed saturated absorption spectroscopy to map the hyperfine structure of Rubidium isotopes and calibrate grating tuned diode lasers as necessary for laser cooling in MOT• Designed, constructed and operated an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) leak-checker and pump system with a residual gas analysis (RGA) system capable of detecting partial pressures down to 5x10^-15 Torr• Diagnosed and corrected operational issues with saturated absorption and RGA systems through troubleshooting and data analysis; created detailed operating instructions for both systems
