I am a first-generation Electrical and Computer Engineering Masters graduate from Mississippi State University. My main interests are power electronics, controls, and circuit design within the area of renewable energy.During a NSF Program at the Energi Lab in Aalborg University in Denmark I created a Keras Artificial Neural Network which stabilizes a Distributed Energy Resources system during Fault Ride Through conditions. The photovoltaic simulation responded normally by spiking the current as expected during a voltage disturbance. I solved this by having the network dynamically change the PI gains in the inverter controller. At a voltage drop of 30%, which IEEE 1547 states can be an acceptable level to continue operation, this reduced the current peaks by 20% while maintaining constant power flow.At G&W Electric I deepened my understanding of power electronics by creating my first device from scratch which led to saving 1000+ labor hours a year. This embedded system was created using Arduino and linked to a stepper motor which I created to improve the product calibration process. I also helped design an inspection system to identify issues with the insulation molding. This bore-scope system helped save thousands of dollars worth of equipment, and it would become a new standard for reliability assurance in other projects. My previous work experience has predominantly been with the power utility industry in both the distribution and generation sectors. This gave me the foundation to learn about power, reliability, and professionalism.Using my skills earned with internships, I finished my Bachelors by designing the capstone project's PCB and power circuit in KiCAD. I also performed collaborative analysis and constraint testing to ensure the goals were met to create the finished product.
