My PhD work revolved around the central problem of analyzing natural auditoryscenes: How does the brain respond to sounds in a variety of background noises,and how can we build systems that can extract a signal of interest from potentiallyhighly structured background noise? I developed a noise reduction algorithm thatrelies on spectro-temporal feature detection and reconstruction.
