In the Pioneer Research Program, selected students work one-on-one with leading U.S. university professors in advanced study and research of a topic of their interest, culminating in a full-length research paper. In this program, Dr. Catherine Cardelus, a professor of Biology and Environmental Studies and the Director of the Upstate Institute at Colgate University, mentored me.

This was a one-month internship where I worked with Felix Leung, the Climate Change Fellow of TNC. I researched TNC's nature-based solution projects. I also worked in the field such as traveling to Mong Tseng Wai to scope potential fish pond sites.

Hong Kong

This is an environmental charity focused on tackling climate change. The Nature Conservancy has over one million members globally as of 2021 and has protected more than 119,000,000 acres of land and thousands of miles of rivers worldwide. As of 2014, it is the largest environmental non-profit organization by assets and revenue in the Americas. During this internship, I created a website template that highlighted the importance of shellfish reefs in Hong Kong under TNC’s shellfish restoration project.
