Hi there! 👋🏼If there's one thing I've been good at my entire life it's communication. Written, verbal, nonverbal? Any type of communication you can think of, I'm excellent at it. In using my communication skills, I've been able to also teach others how to effectively communicate in their own lives. Part of being a good communicator is understanding your audience, what they already know, what they need to know, and how best to break information down for the intended audience. Learning how to do this deceivingly simple process in a variety of settings has aided me in mastering the following skills:Curriculum Development: I use scaffolding to dissect what the learning outcomes and content objectives are to create curriculum to best suit those end goals. (For virtual, in person, and hybrid learning spaces)Instructional design: Understanding audience (adult learners vs adolescent) and what they know/how they think to create materials that enhance and asses understanding of content objectives. (For virtual, in person, and hybrid learning spaces) For example: Wrote an entire thesis on how to design universal literature courses for a multicultural classroom. Writing: Being able to understand what genre of writing is necessary for each rhetorical situation (classroom writing, professional emails, presentation material, etc). Public Speaking: Understanding what kind of dialogue needs to be present for communication (formal versus informal), what terms/key words are used for that setting. Creating engaging presentation materials and invigorating questions and emphasis. Part of my passion for communication stems from my passion to learn new things and help others to do the same. Writing, instruction, curriculum, and education have given me avenues where I have connected with both adult and adolescent learners to hone my skills in helping others.Additionally, I excel at building strong relationships, analyzing and synthesizing data, and problem solving. And my whole approach to teaching is pointed towards creating inclusive and equitable enrichment spaces. My background in education has strengthened my adaptability, reasoning, and presentation skills. Outside of work, I am a concert-going enthusiast, indie movie-goer, and a little dog obsessed. I am passionate, highly motivated, and have been told that I'm "exceptionally cheery" by a few former colleagues!
