As an Intern Architect II, I collaborate daily with our RNL DC team, as well as those in our RNL Denver, Phoenix and LA offices to evolve conceptual ideas into graphic representations of our built environment through a plethora of design mediums. In the second stage of USGBC's ADVANCE framework, PLAN Builder workshop, I had the opportunity generate fruitful discussions among some of the leading sustainable minds in the area and inspire initiatives towards a more regenerative future. This four hour workshop paired the participator: Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) with green building experts to collaborate on the development of an action plant to meet CAFB goals. After introductions we were all given a tour of the CAFB facility to better understand their needs and aspirations. When we returned to the workshop, we immediately began brainstorming ideas for all the opportunities we saw. Further developed preliminary design challenges into creative solutions that focused on cultural and civic environments. Investigated contextual materials through research and development to inspire collaborative thinking and innovative processes. Coordinated ideologies grounded in tradition of both fabrication and craft. More specifically, I assisted the workshop through DD phases for a 18,000 sq. ft. Living Arts and Science Center as well as the CD of a 20,000 sq. ft. cultural museum for the Filson Historical Society. Similarly, both projects required of me to explore contextual materials, innovative details and fabrication techniques. I also generated three dimensional and two dimensional drawings, and renderings to illustrate my research and application of the products for each project. Autodesk Revit was the software used. Produced full schematic, design development, and construction packages for instituitional / university, telecommunications, commercial, and residential projects. I also managed a classroom relocation and a ceramic’s studio renovation project at Grossmont College, as well as several telecommunication sites.
