I was responsible for building and leading a national team of senior medical science liaisons (RMLs) covering the portfolio of oncology and rare diseases within the US. As Head of the RML team, I was accountable for the co-development and implementation of regional customer engagement strategies in alignment with the VP of Oncology Field Medical and VP of Customer Engagement / Sales.I was also accountable for the execution of the field medical strategic plan at “must-win” priority accounts (Florida Cancer Specialists, Texas Oncology, One Oncology, etc.), delivering innovative and tailored scientific solutions from pipeline to launch and through life cycle management, delivering a strong portfolio-wide value proposition to our external stakeholders and population health decision makers (PHDMs).In collaboration with Medical Franchises, Commercial Engagement Account leads, and other Novartis stakeholders, compliantly drive strategic alignment, define institutional interest, and identify & prioritize both opportunities and challenges for collaboration aligned with Novartis account strategy. The RML team worked to improve the Novartis research footprint within priority accounts (sponsored trials, IITs, and collaborations).I was responsible for all aspects of people leadership, including recruitment, succession planning, retention, coaching, and providing direction to the highly specialized RML team.

I had responsibility for the Clinical Value & Evidence Liaison ('Market Access MSLs' - referred to as CVLs at Novartis) team, including the US strategic leadership and management of the North Oncology Field Medical CVL team within the Novartis United States Oncology Medical Affairs division. The CVL team was a field medical team charged with supporting preferred patient access for Novartis Oncology and Rare Disease medications. The CVL team was responsible for the scientific engagement of Population Health Decision Makers, ‘C-Suite’/Chief Medical Officers, CFO’s, Medical & Pharmacy Directors, Clinical Leaders etc. at National & Regional Health Plans, Specialty Pharmacies, Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), Government (Medicare/Medicaid), Clinical Pathway Organizations, etc. involved in health care coverage decisions and access for over 90% of the US population (~300 Million lives). As Executive Director, I was responsible for all aspects of people leadership, including recruitment, succession planning, retention, coaching, and providing direction to the highly specialized CVL team. During my tenure, the CVL team was integral to improving access to Kisqali®. Specifically, the team co-led a request for NCCN Guideline Differentiation and improved access for over 30 million covered lives.
