I come from very humble beginnings, being raised below the poverty line in Dallas, TX. However, I never let life's shortcomings stop me from dreaming big and achieving bigger. Since my elementary school days, I've viewed academic excellence as the pathway to financial freedom, which has lead me to attending some of America's best schools throughout my academic journey. And I don't know whether it's because I'm resilient, determined, or too stubborn to give up, but in spite of all the uncertainty that life has brought me, I've persevered and managed to finish the first chapter of my life's story.Recently, I became the first college graduate in my family, graduating with a B.A. in Computer Science from Rice University. Through my education at Rice and internship experiences at Google, I have fostered skills vital to data analysis / business intelligence and software engineering. I'm eager to putting my knowledge and skills to the test with a data analyst role.But hey, there's more to me than just technology and data. To be able to financially support myself since the age of 16, I've taken up a handful of customer service roles. Currently, I am a top-performer server at Olive Garden, who averages on $4000/week in sales. Working as a sever has helped strengthen interpersonal skills such as communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and adaptability, skills that are vital for roles in any field.As I embark on chapter 2 of my story, I'm looking forward to hearing from others.
