Having returned to Ball State in pursuit of my graduate degree, I am currently engaged in a multifaceted role as part of my Ball State housing and residence life graduate assistantship. As an Assistant Residential Learning Coordinator I am tasked with overseeing 22 student employees and maintaining a residence hall housing 600 residents. My responsibilities encompass various crucial aspects, including acting as a resource person, I provide guidance to residents on student, campus, and community services. Additionally, I am an integral part of the on-call duty rotation for residence halls in my specific campus area, responding promptly to crises, evacuations, and other emergencies. I also handle resident and staff concerns, ranging from noise and disruptive behavior to facility issues, this sometimes involves thorough investigation and confrontation. As a key figure in fostering a positive living environment, I inform and advise residents on policies and regulations, ensuring compliance and serving as a role model. Conducting disciplinary hearings and adhering to procedural protocols is part of my commitment to maintaining order and accountability. Moreover, I actively oversee staff training, supervision, and evaluation, and play a role in community-building activities within the residence halls, including event coordination and facilitation. Throughout these responsibilities, I maintain confidentiality with utmost diligence.

I began my professional journey as a Probation Officer managing a standard caseload, but my career trajectory led me to a specialized unit working with sex & violent offenders, where I handled a high-intensity caseload. In this role, my primary responsibilities included meticulously monitoring clients to ensure adherence to all court-ordered conditions, offering structured support to clients until their discharge, and diligently completing requisite court paperwork, interviews, and field visits. Effective communication with all relevant parties and the establishment of enduring partnerships with external agencies were also integral aspects of my role.
