Tyra is an ordained Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, currently serving as the Minister to College Students for the College Family Ministry, which she founded 25 years ago at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Fort Washington, MD.She is dedicated to nurturing the holistic development of college students by providing support in various areas, including spiritual & personal growth, civic engagement, academic achievement, social justice advocacy and community building.With a focus on criminal justice and reconciliation work, Rev. Tyra has been passionately concerned about and focused on advocating for the marginalized and underserved.She served as a Chaplain at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, caring for patients, staff, and families, and completed Clinical Pastoral Education, making her uniquely qualified to minister to those in distress and facing some of life’s most difficult challenges.Her career spans various industries, including her tenure as an Executive and Sales Manager in the communications industry. There, she traveled across the country training consultants and helping enhance brand awareness, drive revenue growth, assisting clients achieve new levels of success.As a strategist and organizer, Rev. Tyra excels in leading teams, managing projects, creating multi-faceted plans to address unique challenges, addressing urgent issues, meeting tight deadlines, and developing partnerships to drive growth and innovation.
