Tyra Heckstall is a dedicated and passionate educator who has consistently driven academic excellence and learner success throughout her career. Washington High School with KIPP New Orleans Schools. She coached seven Social Studies teachers, helping them enhance their skills and content expertise, and collaborated closely with the school's college counselor to ensure that every senior had a solid post-secondary plan prior to graduation.Before stepping into her role as Dean, Tyra taught twelfth-grade AP US Government & Politics for two years and ninth-grade Pre-AP World History for another two years. Additionally, she served as the 12th Grade Level Chair for two years. Her commitment to curriculum development extended beyond the classroom, as she contributed to the KIPP Foundation's AP for All curriculum and serves as an AP Reader for the College Board. As a member of the 2023 Alumni Coaching Cohort for Teach For America, she continues to engage with and support the next generation of educators.Tyra's academic background includes a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Instructional Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
