I have served as a volunteer to political campaigns, and nonprofit organizations which address hunger, homelessness, children’s welfare, and women’s issues. I was 1 of 59,000 Black women from across the U.S. to enroll in the Black Women’s Health Study (BWHS) conducted by both Boston University and Howard University. I have been a participant in the BWHS, which is the largest prospective cohort study ever conducted on the health of Black women, for 29 years.As a member of the Junior League of Chicago (JLC), I have served as a Group Mentor in the JLC New Member Program.
