My primary responsibilities:* build a great engineering team that covers UX/client/backend/data (I've built the entire engineering team on two locations - Bellevue and Beijing from the scratch).* grow the potential leaders* work with the team to build secure infrastructure and deliver Forge blockchain platform and bi-directional token swap service.* create a pleasant and learning engineering culture (we host weekly tech talks, ad-hoc training on emerging technologies, e.g. elixir / rust, and quarterly retrospectives).* spread ArcBlock engineering brand (e.g. we host several blockchain tech odyssey events, hackathons and our engineers gave several talks on conferences like Code Beam, IEEE pacific rim, etc.)

Major deliveries:* I built Tubi's China team and grew it to a very strong team with 12 engineers, covering nodejs / elixir services, web/ott devices, data pipeline, and machine learning.* I worked closely with CTO to build Tubi's eng culture - see https://github.com/tyrchen/unchained/blob/master/talks/Eng%20Culture.pdf.* To foster a learning culture in Tubi, I hosted weekly BBLs (Brown Bag Lecture) across the engineering team. To lead by example, I gave more than 20 talks myself for the past 2.5 years.* I trained the eng team to embrace ES6, to write unit tests, to send PRs and do code review, to use UAPI-core (the framework I built for API layer) and then I trained the backend team to use Elixir/OTP to build high-performance services. I also give every new hire a bootstrap training on Tubi's eng history and core architecture.* I wrote many technical blogs (in Chinese) about Tubi's culture, technology, and challenges, though the purpose is for hiring, it greatly spread Tubi's brand to Chinese engineers.* I built the framework and initial applications of UAPI (Unified API), which is the foundation of Tubi's backend.* I built a policy engine and the initial version of the materialization engine, which greatly reduced latency for all kinds of content related APIs to one or two magnitudes. Now they are the core engines driving Tubi's business.* By building the policy engine, I introduced elixir to Tubi, which is one of the most important languages driving Tubi's backend.* I worked with CTO and the team to build Tubi's infra code, and we successfully moved our whole infra from one DC to another without downtime for major services. Now Tubi is a company that can completely claim we're the true "infra as code" company.

I founded tukeq.com in March 2011 to pursue the opportunity of online travelling business with other 2 cofounders. We chose a niche point – online travel planning for independent travellers to enter the rapid growth Chinese oversea travel market. We believe that by influencing the decision making phase earlier in the planning period we could find out place among the big OTA giants like ctrip.com.
