Initially after High School I spent some time chasing my dreams of becoming a professional musician. In the meantime, I worked in retail starting as a sales associate at Guitar Center. As time (and life) progressed and dreams and priorities changed, I began taking my retail work more seriously. I was eventually promoted to Operations Manager at Guitar Center in Amarillo. The situation I inherited was not ideal (more of a complete disaster to be honest). I was able to eventually clean up the warehouse, fix the inventory issues and even turn the shrink around to win a few monthly district shrink awards before I left. After working at Guitar Center for a while, I eventually made the decision with my wife to move our family closer to home so that she could go to school. I then took a position as the Store Manager of the local Dollar General. I again inherited a less than ideal situation. However, after the first year, I was able to turn around the inventory, clean up the store, and bring back customers. For the next few years I managed a top 5 store by volume in the region (114 stores) while still being a top performer in shrink and labor usage. After my wife left school and started her career, we moved back to Lubbock where I took the opportunity to return to school. While going to school, I worked as Warehouse Manager for a company that installed flooring for The Home Deopt. In addition to managing the warehouses in Lubbock and Odessa, I also did all of the install scheduling and installer and customer relations for Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, Brownwood, and San Angelo. After graduating Cum Laude from Texas Tech University in May of 2020 with a B.A. and M.S. in Accounting I accepted a position at KPMG in Fort Worth where I’ve worked as a Tax Associate since January of 2021.
