As early as I could remember I’ve always looked up to my grandfather. It was only natural to look to him as a fatherly figure. He introduced me into a computer in the seventh grade, and in the eighth grade I was already working with HTML. I've alway had a passion for computers and its complexity since then and still am eager to gain knowledge about them. For a long time though, I was hooked on being a game developer. I was the biggest geek for popular games when I was a kid and never lost interest. Unironically, this is why I was able to learn C# on my own. I would spend countless hours in the unity engine trying to render my own game ideas, and write lines and lines of code all at my own personal volition, I was so driven to learn about game development until i attended my first real computer science class. I was informed about the world of development, and the abundance of specialties and jobs you can get by broadening your development knowledge. I was torn. Everything seemed so awesome to pursue and I felt I was overwhelmed with options. As of now, I am not totally sure what field in computer science I want to focus on but I am as eager as ever to learn as much as I can about every one of them. During my first year in college when I learned about all these professions, I learned that there is so much more that I have yet to learn. I spent my first two semesters working in Javascript and C, which gave me a more general understanding of universal syntax that would eventually help me understand various other languages’ syntax. In my second year, I learned more advanced C including time efficient algorithms, and C++. However, In my second semester of my second year at UNT I am currently taking a systems programming course.Systems programming was very interesting to me because It's in the career field my grandfather chose, and he inspired me to get into computers in the first place. Taking this class was actually life changing for me because I was finally able to talk to my grandfather in an intellectual conversation about his and my passion for computers. Looking back, I also learned a total of 4 different languages within the span of a shortened semester. I am currently finishing said semester, and I feel now that I have a base understanding of what my options are for pursuing a career. I cannot wait to learn the many different things in the diverse world of Computer Science.
