Profile bio

About Tyrel Smith

As a Senior Scientist at Notch Therapeutics, I applied my PhD in Immunology and my expertise in immuno-oncology and translational science to develop a next-generation pipeline of off-the-shelf, universally compatible, genetically tailored T-cell therapeutics derived from renewable stem cell sources for the treatment of high-impact diseases, with an initial focus on cancer. With over seven years of experience in immunology research, I have a strong background in cell biology, biochemistry, cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and immunohistochemistry, as well as experimental design and data analysis.Prior to joining Notch Therapeutics, I worked as a Translational Scientist at NodThera, where I contributed to the discovery and development of inhibitors of the NLRP3 inflammasome for the treatment of inflammatory and neuroinflammatory diseases. I also worked as an Immuno-Oncology Scientist at OncoResponse, where I leveraged the human immune system to identify fully human monoclonal antibodies and novel targets for cancer therapy, using a robust and human antibody discovery platform, iSTAR. In addition, I have authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, such as Oncolytic Virotherapy, Infectious Diseases: Clinical Microbiology, and Nature Nanotechnology, and obtained certificates in Translational and Molecular Sciences and Practitioner Teaching. I am passionate about advancing the field of immunology and improving the lives of patients with unmet medical needs.

Listed skills include Laboratory, Clinical Trials, University Teaching, High Throughput Screening, and 43 others.
