Tyrone is an advisor and the Academic Program Manager for the Program in Computing for the Arts and Science (PCAS). His duties span collaborative leadership and program management as well as developing an equitable and accessible environment for a diverse group of students, faculty and visitors. He is most excited about introducing a new way to engage with computing and its applications toward a liberal arts education.

Provides writing guidance for the student personal statements for medical, law, and graduate school. Consults students their reflections on the significance of past experiences as they apply to their preparedness and self-awareness regarding their professional goals.

Advises students in the Bachelor in General Studies, a highly interdisciplinary degree that allows motivated students to craft an undergraduate experience to meet their diverse personal and professional goals. Assesses degree progress. Communicates scholarship information as well as and co-curricular opportunities. Coordinates B.G.S. commencement ceremony.

Provides one-on-one academic advising services to University of Michigan students within a liberal arts curriculum. Informs students of the requirements of the College of LSA and the expectations individual majors. Refers students, as needed, to other offices, services and opportunities across campus and in the local community. Leads student focused workshops and serves in new, transfer and international student orientation efforts. Works on various committees, related to issues such as the first-year student experience, the design and implementation of online study tools, and colleague morale and wellness.

I chaired a weekly "small board" for general LSA petitions on reactivation and other college policies and requirements. I also carried my own case load of students on academic probation, those nearing probation status, or other cases that require more resource finding for the student involved. I also served on Grade Review at term’s end.

Oversaw the day to day operation of the Individualized Major Program (formerly the Individualized Concentration Program.) The program allowed motivated students to design their own major through a challenging process of developing their ideas with faculty, formally proposing to a review committee, implementing their planned curriculum, and reflecting upon their programs through a culminating capstone project. In this position I wore many hats. I consulted with prospective students to determine the viability of the proposed major and how their interests could be met through existing programs or departments; I advised students in navigating their interactions with faculty; I facilitated a 3-credit course for declared students (UC 455), dedicated to exploring the interdisciplinary nature of their studies and assisting them in designing a senior project.

Provided on-going project support for a national leadership training program focused on the betterment of children and families; recorded and archived performance data from national sites; scheduled and took notes for meetings of national management team; provided support to specific sites, when needed.

Oversaw day-to-day operations of an undergraduate leadership program. Coordinated student leadership projects; coordinated mentoring component, and designed curriculum for and co-taught a class on public policy and diversity. Performed other duties as assigned.
