Personnel Security Specialist
CurrentServes as Personnel Security Specialist in the DLA Intelligence Office (DI), providing assistance on Personnel Security matters for personnel which includes civilian, military and contractors for offices within DI Primary Level Field Activities (PFLAs) Headquarters DLA and other activities as assigned, including. OSD Defense Support Activities (DSAs). Provide personnel security support for approximately 15,000 sensitive positions, which require clearances up to and including Top secret and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Interprets existing security directives and resolves unique and complex security problems by on-the-spot solutions and follow-up written communications. Conducts pre-appointment security checks on employees/applicants and contractors selected for sensitive positions. Ensures inquiries are made to the security and personnel offices of the losing Agency concerning applicants for employment in sensitive positions. Reviews investigative records and civilian, military and civilian military and contractor records to determine if persons employed or to be employed meet security standards. Applies agency regulations regarding the type of security clearances and investigations required and impact of break in service for clearance determinations. Ascertains acceptability of current or prior investigations and determinations of security clearance eligibility, dates of completion or adjudication respectively, validity of basis for security clearances and investigations to include, especially, any derogatory information. Reviews, evaluates, and makes security determinations involving minor derogatory information developed during personnel security investigations. If derogatory information exists, locates and obtains reports conducted by the Defense Security Service Office of Personnel Management, and other Federal investigative agencies.
