Tyrone Brooks joined the Office of the Commissioner at Major League Baseball as the Senior Director of the Front Office and Field Staff Diversity Pipeline Program in February of 2016. The Diversity Pipeline Program was established by Major League Baseball to increase the pool of qualified women and persons of color for front office and on-field roles in baseball operation at the club level and the Office of the Commissioner. Brooks, who is entering his 29th season in professional baseball, has notable front office experience including working in major league administration, scouting and player development. Brooks was a valued staff member for the Atlanta Braves, contributing to the organization winning 10 Division titles in 11 seasons (including 2 World Series appearances-1996 and 1999, during the Braves' unprecedented 14 year run of division titles). He also spent three years as a pro scout with the Cleveland Guardians from 2007-2009. Prior to joining the Office of the Commissioner, Brooks spent six seasons (2010-2015) with the Pittsburgh Pirates, including as Director of Player Personnel and Director of Baseball Operations, contributing to the organization making the postseason from 2013-2015. Brooks is a 1996 graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park where he double-majored in accounting and marketing.
