About Tyrone Squires, Cpbs

Hello, I'm Tyrone Squires, founder and managing director of TransparentRx, America's first fiduciary model pharmacy benefit manager. With nearly two decades of experience in the pharmacy and PBM sectors, including starting up a successful mail-order pharmacy and an early role at Eli Lilly & Company, I am dedicated to innovating and improving pharmacy benefits management. At TransparentRx, we focus on reducing pharmacy costs effectively without compromising patient outcomes, aiming to set a national standard in our field. Under my guidance, TransparentRx has earned numerous accolades for its growth and commitment to excellence, including:♦️ Recognition on the Inc. 5000 2024, Top 50%♦️ Recognition on the Inc. 5000 2023, Top 20%♦️ FT Fastest Growing Companies 2024, ranking #71♦️ Syracuse University's IVMF Vet100 2024, ranking #73♦️ Education 2.0 Outstanding Leadership Award, 2024♦️ UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy sponsorshipI also spearheaded the creation of InsourceRx, the first do-it-yourself PBM data analytics SaaS platform tailored for HR and finance departments. This platform empowers HR and finance departments to conduct their own data analyses, fostering transparency and efficiency in managing pharmacy benefits.Additionally, I founded the Pharmacy Benefit Institute of America. As the lead instructor for the Certified Pharmacy Benefits Specialist (CPBS) program, I educate HR, finance, and employee benefit professionals on the intricacies of pharmacy benefits, with a focus on practical applications and adherence to a fiduciary standard of care. My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and an MBA from Wayne State University. Through my blog, “The Employer's Guide Blog for Overseeing PBMs,” I offer insights to educate self-funded employers, benefits consultants, and brokers on optimizing pharmacy benefits. When not leading my team or championing cost-effective healthcare solutions, I enjoy chess, traveling, cooking, and reading non-fiction. Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, I continue to lead and inspire in the PBM landscape, ensuring our clients and their beneficiaries can look better, feel better, and live longer.CONTACTTyrone D. Managing Director
    Transparentrx Jan 2010 - Present
    Las Vegas, Nevada, Us
Boutique pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) operating as a fiduciary or administrative fee-only adviser. Although all PBM contracts with clients are viewable by both parties, PBMs operating under the traditional model often employ contractual wording that allows for pricing and reimbursement mechanisms that render clarity of expenditure and actual cost drivers to be elusive and are designed to maximize the overall margin for the PBM. Under the fiduciary model, contracts negotiated between PBMs, clients, and pharmacies are designed to be as understandable and transparent as possible, which, ostensibly, is meant to encourage the best therapeutic outcomes and financial interests for the stakeholders (clients, enrollees, and patients). The primary purpose of this position is to design and execute a PBM strategy with respect to third-party contracting and managed care marketplace positioning such as to effect increases in sales, reduce plan sponsors' cost, and improve patient outcomes while maintaining and improving gross profit margins. Frequent independent judgments are essential. This position directly supervises associates and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with TransparentRx policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.
