Safety Coordinator
CurrentReview and support to implement site-specific programs, procedures and work instructions.Ensure all activities comply with site HSE requirements and legislation.Investigate accidents and near-misses and liaises with key stakeholders and management to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence through the application of suitable corrective actions.Provide advice and training on safety protocols and conducts inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the organization and government standards related to employee health and safety.Maintain and analyze records of workplace injuries, illness and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies.Verify completion of safety recommendations and requirements on site.Understanding of and verifies compliance with safety standards, work practices, work permit requirements, and various safety systems.Provide consultation and support on internal and external required notifications (ie. regulatory, incidents, etc.).Participate in actions related to the site emergency response team attending to emergencies and directing the workforce away from danger. Assist emergency personnel with their duties and liaises with local emergency response agencies.Assist injured workers with accommodations where returning to work through a Graduated Return to Work (GRTW) program.Assist in supporting ergonomic risk assessments, including identifying hazards and proposing appropriate solutions to limit risk to the workforce.Assist with investigating Musculo-Skeletal Injuries (MSIs) and with formulating solutions and processes to prevent similar types of injuries.Works in confined space environments.Promote a proactive safety culture at all levels of the organization, with heavy focus on employee engagement in the Safety Management System.
