Senior Structural EngineerResponsible Engineer for Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, GA to design an Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) Large Pad. Work consisted of weekly meetings with client (Southern Nuclear Company), preparation of calculations for the concrete pad using all applicable design loads as defined by the NRC, and coordination of other disciplines scope of work. Lead Structural Engineer for the design of mounting of all security equipment for to protect the ISFSI site against nuclear sabotage.Assisted other engineers for completion of Design Change Packages to modify various components for all plants under Southern Nuclear Company’s fleet of operating nuclear power plants.

Provided onsite support for initialization of conceptual study for a Reliable Hardened ContainmentVent for Columbia Generating Station in light of the events that occurred at the Fukushima Dai-ichinuclear power plant in March 2011. While at the site for support, was able to solve issues in a timely mannerwithout sacrificing quality and safety into technical designs.The following projects originated:• Anchorage of Station Battery chargers using finite element model for seismic considerations.• Installation of Unit 2 Safety Relief Valves and redesign of structural supports due to valveinterferences.• Originated/checked several calculations pertaining to the qualification of the drywell steelplatform in the Unit 1 drywell at Plant Hatch which included a GTStrudl model of several baysto properly analyze the effect the increase in pipe support loading has on the structural steel.Part of Quality Process Improvement Team (QPIT) created to improve designs submitted to clientfor review.Finalized the incorporation of the Hatch Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI)Project to expand the currently installed ISFSI cask capacity from 48 to 120 casks.
