CENIC Project 2: Investigating the Impact of Nicotine Using Spectrum Cigarettes. PI: Neal Benowitz, M.D. CENIC (Center for the Evaluation for Nicotine Cigarettes)Served as a key member on a FDA-funded, multi-site, randomized-controlled evaluation of low-yield nicotine cigarettes in smokers. Prepared manuscripts for publication (editing, creating figures & tables, using Endnote for references) and submitted manuscripts directly through journal interfaces; conducted phone screens to determine participant eligibility (approximately 1-2 hours of calls a day); performed participant surveys over the phone in English/Spanish; maintained organization of source document and confidential PHI files; entered case report forms into the electronic data-capture system REDCap; analyzed descriptive data for graphs; handled, labeled and shipped biomarker samples; worked efficiently and successfully within a team environment, as well as independently; followed Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and performed a broad spectrum of administrative duties using mainly Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). CENIC Project 2: Investigating the Impact of Nicotine Using Spectrum Cigarettes. PI: Neal Benowitz, M.D. CENIC (Center for the Evaluation for Nicotine Cigarettes).Completed office supply orders, executed literary searches using PubMed, entered data for 1-3 active studies using REDCap, developed PowerPoint’s for presentations given by Dr. Benowitz; analyzed data and constructed graphs, scribed voice recordings for manuscript development, and submitted expense reports amongst various other administrative duties with proficient use of Microsoft Office.

Assessing Anti-VEGF-Induced Neurobehavioral Deficits Using the Rodent Psychomotor Vigilance Test (rPVT). PI: Catherine Davis, PhD.Examined the effects that anti-vascular epithelial growth factors (anti-VEGF) have on cognitive performance in rat subjects. Precisely weighed rats prior to testing, rationed proper food quantities after rats performed the rPVT, cleaned rPVT boxes, returned the rats to their original cages, analyzed and recorded data from the rPVT, and used EXCEL to enter/analyze data. The Effects of Proton Radiation on Schedule Controlled Responding and Quinpirole-Induced Yawning. PI: Catherine Davis, PhD. Co-PI: Robert Hienz, PhD. Studied the effects of quinpirole on yawning behavior in rats to assess underlying brain physiology. Precisely weighed rat subjects, performed intraperitoneal injections of quinpirole and vehicle, acquired rectal temperatures, rationed food, ran subject sessions, (consisting of a thirty-minute acclimation period, followed by five IP injections, and five observation periods). Performed data entry using EXCEL.
