I am an employee experience fanatic. I love transforming and developing inclusive HR/DEI programs and processes to solve employee problems. Over the past 15 years, I have leveraged my skills as a strategy, innovation and consumer experience coach to lead various ERGs as my side "yay" job. I then converted my "yay" job into my "day" job and have been innovating on DEI and ERG systems and processes ever since. My efforts were rewarded when my ERG program was recognized as the #1 ERG Program by DiversityInc. A few things that I love:1. A good framework for designing and leading action-oriented impacts. (I even love a mediocre one if it creates value.) Icing on top - having an inspiring, empowering set of Design Principles connected to that framework. 2. Inclusive Experience Design. I love thinking through how to create experiences that are inclusive, where people feel seen and supported from the big to small details. I know from personal experience how important, validating and inspiring this is to ERG leaders. 3. Analytics tied to decision making. I get legit excited to analyze data to determine direction based on leading indicators and see results in lagging indicators; even more exciting is predictive modeling tied to decision making. BUT we need a DEI Analytics revolution. DEI dashboards are full of lagging indicators that are too narrow to capture the experience of most groups with flawed inputs, relying on what HR systems are legally and functionally able to capture. 4. Human-Centered Design. There is incredible value and empowerment in co-creating something with the target audience to solve a "job to be done" - this applies as much (if not more) to product design as it does to employee experiences. HCD and JTBD sometimes get a bad rap b/c they are overused and misused.5. Change Management. Also gets a bad rap because it is often used in the context of convincing an employee or leader to do something they don't want to do. I think of it as a product rollout strategy and a day spent identifying and strategizing on approaches for the early adopters and the laggards to show them "what's in it for me" is a day well spent.Employees are a company's most valuable asset and DEI and ERGs that are focused on identifying, amplifying and solving for experience gaps can be one of the greatest resources for creating an empowering employee experience. I love talking about all of these topics so please reach out to discuss anything ERG/DEI/HCD related. That will make my day!
