For 14 years, he worked at The New York Times where he had wide-ranging experience across journalism, product development, operations, strategic planning, data analysis, people management, business development, budgeting and audience development.At The Times, Tyson was a founding member of the newsroom strategy team, co-authored the “2020 Report” on the future of The Times’s newsroom and served as the first director of strategy for Times Opinion and launched a new, cross-functional team focused on building and measuring trust and credibility.He started his career at The Times as a deputy editor of the interactive news desk, building data-driven web apps on deadline. He has taught at Columbia University, The New School and Stanford's d.school. He is a past-president of the Society for News Design, which champions visual journalism, and his work has been recognized by SND, ONA, IRE, Editor & Publisher, J-Lab and The Webbys.
