Works collaboratively working with principals and other school district administrators to implement and monitor the district’s special education programs. Assists the Director of Special Education with the oversite of all departmental operations related to hiring personnel, staffing, budgeting, grant development, state/federal reporting, evaluation of certified and licensed staff, program evaluation, special projects and other duties as assigned. Collaborates with District personnel, school administrative teams and staff to lead the delivery of instructional services and supports for students with disabilities. Facilitates trainings regarding IDEA related components (IEP , Evaluation, Manifestation Determination) as well as other trainings related to the mission of the department.Assists the Director of Special Education in leading the development and implementation of district policies and procedures related to programs for students with disabilities. Conducts audits of IDEA related documents (evaluation, IEP , BSP) and provide trainings to ensure quality and compliance with Federal, State & district policies, procedures and laws and appropriate implementation of IEPs .Trains administrators, teachers and staff on Federal and state laws, board policy and district procedures related to students with disabilities and conducts trainings with administrators, teachers and staff on implementation at the district and school level. Facilitates IDEA related meetings, mediation meetings and hearings.Collaborates with district and school staff related to state assessment (AzMERIT, Alternate Assessment) for training and implementation purposes and assists in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve student achievement. Assists the Director of Special Education with the overall evaluation of the department’s programs and services, and supervises and evaluates staff as assigned. The Special Education Facilitator assists the Director of Special Education in providing professional leadership to organize, administer, supervise and evaluate a creative, effective Special Education department.Develops and facilitates professional development to teachers on a variety of topics including Differentiated Instruction and Co-Teaching Strategies.Provides on-site support for teachers including coaching on effective instructional strategies in a variety of instructional settings.Assists in coordinating and planning all Special Education, Homebound, McKinney Vento and 504 programs ensuring full compliance with application policies, regulations, procedures, state and federal laws.Coordinates parent support/training network for implementation of IDEA requirements.Facilitates formal and informal complaint and mediation resolution meetings.Assists in law in-service and training for Special Education, Homebound, McKinney Vento and 504 staffing.Assists in developing and conducting District IEP and MET training for compliance with state and federal requirements.
