At the heart of every Telco Service Provider's business is the Business and Operations Support System (BSS/OSS). MyRepublic is the world's first telco to build its own proprietary Cloud-native BSS/OSS platform.As a Director of Engineering, I managed a team of fourteen (14) comprising Software Engineers, DevOps, and UI/UX Designers. My teams were responsible for developing features for the in-house telco billing and provisioning platform (known as BSS/OSS), our public customer signup web portals, and mobile app for SG and ANZ.The team successfully delivered MyRepublic Singapore's 5G mobile plans together an improved mobile app with a unified API that is capable of interfacing with multiple different backend systems, and also massively improved backend system performance and Cloud savings during my tenure.

BeamAndGo is FinTech and eCommerce Marketplace that connects overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) with merchants in the Philippines. With our solution, OFWs can take care of their families in the Philippines without having to remit cash.As Head of Engineering, I grew a very lean Software Engineering team and helped deliver several new initiatives and projects.I introduced many best practices including Agile Scrum, CI/CD, automated testing, peer reviews, and good documentation habits. I also led the team in decomposing a five-year-old system into a more layered, modular, flexible, and testable code base - and later implemented several of these modules as microservices. These architectural changes have led to massive developer productivity and code quality improvements.As a result, the team successfully delivered a custom OAuth 2.0 + OpenID Connect compliant service and four other new services (Wallet, Member, Review, Payment) during my tenure.

As a Technical Director, I was instrumental in several large projects for our data centers in the US, including:- Being the architect for the revamp of our VMware vSphere Data Center- Creating a "Software-Defined Data Center" by replacing hardware/proprietary devices with open source/virtual alternatives- Introduced IaC and automation with Puppet and Ansible.- Reducing CapEx & OpEx by more than 50% by introducing hyper-converged infrastructure (Nutanix), replacing traditional SANs.From 2015 onward, I transformed the Singapore business unit from a Support Center to a Professional Services business ~100% CAGR. I grew and led a lean team of six (6) comprising Sales, Software Engineers, and System Engineers delivering ~S$1m/yr in total revenue in 2019 in professional services and software license sales across various industries including Legal, Market Research, Agriculture, Education, Entertainment, Automotive, Manufacturing and Telecommunications sectors.

Conversant specializes in high-performance networking, caching and content delivery systems targeted at Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and large corporations.As a Systems Engineer, I was heavily involved in several key projects in the Telecommunications industry during that time, including setting up Singapore’s first DDoS Mitigation Center for a major ISP in Singapore. This was during a time when Financial Institutions (FI) were gaining online presence and the Monetary Authority of Singapore issued a Technology Risk Management Guideline requiring FIs to have DDoS mitigation capabilities.I was also involved in deploying and managing large clusters of web caches, load balancers, Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) appliances, and data warehouses (for log storage) for several major ISPs in Singapore (>100 physical nodes, >40Gbps of traffic).

Duration is a software development house specializing in financial and real estate software for the US market.As a Senior Technologist, I led the discovery of emerging web technologies, defined standards for application development, and was responsible for training developers on these new technologies. I was the key driver for the introduction of source control systems (SVN) and C# .NET to the team, which was still using Visual Basic + ASP.I was also in charge of specialized/niche development projects ranging from web to desktop and mobile applications (this was before/around the first iPhone launch). One notable project was developing an Assisted-GPS (AGPS – using Wi-Fi triangulation) data collection tool for Microsoft Singapore, an experimental project which was later further extended to Bing Maps.
