Whakarāpopototanga (Summary):I hold a Postgraduate MSc degree in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies with distinction from Strathclyde University. My professional career revolves around genealogical research, based in Timaru, at the heart of the South Island. I specialize in Genetic Genealogy, conducting research within New Zealand, Australia, and I have a particular passion for Scotland.Professional Experience:Currently, I am serving as the Kaiwhakahaere Whāneke Pākihi (Business Development Manager) for Te Aitarakihi Marae-a-iwi. In this role, I am responsible for driving the growth and development of the business unit while maintaining a strong commitment to our cultural heritage.I also continue to serve as a Director of the Register of Qualified Genealogists in the UK, upholding high standards in genealogical research. I'm also a Director of Trust Aoraki, a local gaming machine fund dedicated to giving back to our local community. Previously, I held a directorship at the New Zealand Society of Genealogists, where I was responsible for the Education portfolio.I have served the community of Timaru as a District councillor for 15 years. In my tenure, I had the privilege of Chairing community development initiatives, overseeing infrastructure projects, and managing grants. I also chaired the District Licensing Committee.Before my political career, I worked as a Geotechnical and water well driller for over a decade, taking on projects in New Zealand and Australia. I also hold a Trade Certificate as an Automotive Engineer, specialising in mechanics and diesel fuel injection.My journey in the hospitality sector includes experience as a Publican, hotelier, and manager trained by NZ Breweries.
