Responsibilities:• Ensured safe and efficient 24/7 marine operations within Nigeria's ports and territorial waters, in alignment with IMO guidelines.• Utilized AIS, CCTV, and Marine Radio to communicate with ship pilots/masters, NIMASA MRCC, the Nigerian Navy, port/terminal operators, shipping agents, and meteorological offices.• Provided crucial navigational safety information within the channel and Nigerian waters.• Managed distress and emergencies as the communication hub of the port control center.• Logged incidents, ship arrivals/departures, movements, and other relevant details such as dates, berthing/unberthing times, and tonnages.• Updated computerized records from written log sheets, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.• Relayed records and computerized data to other units within the authority, aiding in operational planning and decision-making.Served as the first and last point of contact for vessels entering and departing Nigeria, ensuring a seamless and secure transition for all maritime operations.
