About Ubaldo Cella
I began working in the Aeronautical field in 1997 on a project sponsored by “SAAB Aircraft” and developed at the “Royal Institute of Technology” (KTH) in Stockholm (Sweden).I have been working for two years in the R&D division of a multinational industry in the automotive field on turbomachinery design and predesign tools development.I started in 2001 to work in the research division of the Italian aircraft manufacturer “Piaggio Aerospace” as aerodynamic research engineer. I spent four years at CIRA (Centro Italiano Ricerche Aerospaziali) where I was responsible of a national research project (PON) concerning the design and testing of a NLF (Natural Laminar Flow) transonic wing, from the design methodology development to the final high speed wind tunnel tests. In Piaggio I was responsible for the aerodynamic European research projects, the development of design and optimization methodologies and I was involved in the aerodynamic design of Piaggio products.Today I offer engineering services as independent consultants (www.designmethods.aero).Specialties: Research activities:Development and validation of aerodynamic design methodologies, Natural Laminar Flow design, stability analysis, fluid-structure iteration, wind tunnel tests.Industrial expertise:CFD-CSM codes coupling, Aerodynamic design, Numerical optimization, CAD/CAE/Optimization integrated design tool development, CAD (CATIA V5: Wireframe & Surface, FreeStyle, Kinematics) and CFD expert.Software:ModeFRONTIER, ICEM/CFD, ZEN, CFD++, Fluent, CFX, StarCCM+, NSMB, MSES, VSAERO, Matlab, CATIA V5, Rhinoceros
