About Kevin Yu

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile! Here's a little bit about me:Background: ✨ Born and raised in Hong Kong and moved to Vancouver at age 14. During this transition, I skipped grade 10, was accepted at the University of British Columbia at age 16, and achieved my childhood dream of biking to school.✨ Played rugby for most of my life, from age 5-16, and still love the sport! I was fortunate enough to play on the Hong Kong National team for two seasons and continued playing in Vancouver.✨ I was lucky to get my first job during the pandemic, virtually supervising a reading mentorship program in September 2020. Who I am now (see more below!):🌟 Career - Business Analyst (recently promoted 🎉) at viaSport BC working with multiple datasets to produce data insights and visualizations for BC's Amateur Sports sector, supporting our Operations and informing strategy & policy decisions.🌟 Academics - Fourth Year student, Bachelor of Arts + Master of Management dual degree program and in the Arts Undergraduate Co-op Program.🌟 Student Leader - I am Senior Residence advisor, having been a residence advisor since 2021, helping build a sense of community leading a team of 8 and solving interpersonal problems within roommates and units. 🌟 Active Community Member - Involved with Dragon Dancing in Vancouver's Chinatown, Canucks Autism Network, education NPOs, and I helped carve the VSB's reconciliation pole.🌟 Mechanic - Loving bikes, I’ve worked at UBC's Bike Kitchen learning mechanics! Also, did a 125km bike ride in 2022 summer, and made it up the wall solo in UBC's Storm the Wall mini-triathlon, 2023 spring!Where I want to be:💫 So far, my experiences have given me business analytic, interpersonal problem-solving and leadership skills, and have furthered my desire to learn from people. I certainly don't know it all, but I've enjoyed chatting with others and learning more together, whether that be around diversity, culture, career paths, etc.!💫 At the moment, I want to learn more about Business Consulting, Business Analytics, and Relationship Building through work and volunteer experiences! If my profile interests you at all, please feel free to connect and let's chat!
