The number of road accidents has alarmingly increased in past few years as these herds of stray cattle occupy the roads. This not only causes difficulty to traffic and pedestrians but also is a reason for major motor vehicle accidents causing injuries to the cattle as well as humans especially at night. There is an increase in such incidents from the past 2-3 years especially in cities and industrial areas including the state and national highway which witness a high traffic and numerous heavy vehicles.Also, herds of stray cattle are a common site scavenging on the garbage bins and dumps causing health hazard not only to them by consuming filthy garbage and plastic but also to our community health. These sick or unhealthy animals are wandering everywhere and pose a serious threat of spreading dangerous diseases to the community and the society in general. There is increased incidence in Foot and Mouth disease, suffocation death due to plastic ingestion, brucellosis, maggot wounds, skin diseases, cattle pneumonia, cancer, meningitis etc. Almost all the stray cattle seen on the streets of Goa today are sick and need treatment and care.
