Designed and architected a data processing workflow that processes diverse Engineering and Field data to create a business information model that is suitable for Construction planning and management.To enable multiple clients to work and create content on the same construction project data simultaneously – designed and implemented a Work Sharing environment. This involves a Production SQL server database and local proprietary file formats for client machines to interact in such a way that the integrity of the data is maintained on both server and client without losing any work done by user on client machine. Working on re-architecting this solution to use Microsoft Sync Framework for database Synchronization.Have led a geographically distributed team in planning and breaking down stories and making sure the stories were executed properly so that they can go through QA gate and beta and product release smoothly. Led developers that were fresh to the product and helped assimilating them in development with smooth transition. Was selected and awarded Shining STAR in the company based on recognition of my efforts taking on additional responsibilities related to software architecture, as well as, efforts to resolve issues at Client’s sites.Ported legacy ConstructSim code to Bentley’s MicroStation based 3D CAD application. The original codebase which was developed in Visual C++ was migrated to /clr. This allowed the Visual C++ modules to invoke and be invoked from .NET assemblies of Bentley’s MicroStation framework while retaining compatibility with unmanaged modules.Worked on upgrading the legacy MS Access and XML based data repository to SQL Server based repository. In the process moved the queries from the application to stored procedures and used Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture design pattern blended with traditional 3 Tier Architecture.

Designed and developed several functional modules of ConstructSim, a project management software that optimizes construction projects through planning, sequencing, and monitoring of construction activities within a data rich virtual plant model.Designed and developed several cost estimating “Adapters” that are used for construction project management. These adapters were designed using plug-in architecture where different cost estimating methods and tools can be used seamlessly without change in core information model.Have designed a “Standard Unit Rate” database in Microsoft Access that allows construction companies put their rates in such a way that the cost function parameters can be varied across without needing a database schema change.Designed and implemented “Change management” workflow for construction data processing where CAD, ISO and project data are integrated for project updates.Designed and implemented WBS (work breakdown structure) and inspection model. These information models simulate project parameters, constraints and rules.Designed and implemented Design patterns like Observer, Factory, Singleton methods.Successfully used Scrum, an agile software development methodology along with techniques like pair programming, code refactoring, continuous integration etc.Converted projects from .Net 2003 to VS2005 resolving some of the highly complicated C++ issues.Successfully led the team for timely release of functional development.

As a Research Assistant working for Praxair Inc., Tonawanda, NY, developed a software tool for layout optimization of multi-package air separation units. Designed and implemented a ‘Bin Allocation Algorithm’ based on a heuristic optimization technique called Genetic Algorithm as a part of the project. Worked on implementation of the above-mentioned algorithm in parallel computing architecture.Worked in a team with a Delphi engineer for buffer management on the shop floor. Developed a software tool based on stochastic modeling for determining the optimum buffer sizes in an internal supply chain. The buffer size on the shop was reduced by 14% as a result of this effort.

Had the responsibility of maintaining overall quality and productivity of Kawasaki-Bajaj (4S) engine assembly cell. Redesigned and fabricated a fixture for machining multiple gears for Bajaj scooter in order to reduce the rejection due to ‘run-out’ problem. The rejection was reduced by 82% as a result of this effort.
