I focus on driving the Chairman's thought leadership activities and overseeing economics research for the organisation. Includes shaping engagements with Ministers and international organisations, entities like the World Economic Forum, Ivy League Universities and leadership roles at Indian and international industry bodies. Also includes content creation, including Economic Insights, Opinion pieces and policy notes.

Overall job responsibility is to contribute to UK becoming a strong partner for India in delivering low carbon growth. I specifically lead on the energy efficiency and renewable energy strands of the co-operation. Have helped to get a strong co-operation going between UK’s Department for Energy and Climate Change and India’s Ministries of Power and New and Renewable Energy on a range of specific issues on solar power, distributed energy, renewable energy financing, and energy efficiency policies and incentives for industries, cities etc. Currently developing multi-million dollar programmes for deploying UK’s International Climate Fund to support India in scaling up solar energy and industrial energy efficiency. In the course of that, have developed strong networks with Government of India, other multilateral and bilateral agencies and private sector financial institutions, companies etc. Leading on mainstreaming climate and environment aspects into DFID India’s Private Sector development and urban programmes focussed on infrastructure. Most of these have become quite ambitious on climate and environment aspects as a result of inputs.Helping UK companies to enter the Indian renewables and energy efficiency markets through information provision, contacts and advice.

Led on delivery of UK India collaboration on designing, implementing and improving market based mechanisms for GHG emission reductions

Led the overall Climate Change Portfolio of the organisation.Programme Management, involving formulating strategies, programmes and projects independently and in partnership with international research institutions, government agencies such as Ministries, Planning Departments (in states), multi-lateral and bilateral agencies. .Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments & Adaptation Planning, at state and district levels, including cost-benefit analysis, communicating climate change to rural communities, piloting natural resource management and market linked adaptation interventions etc. Programme Design and Execution for Carbon Financing, involving aggregated CDM projects in a number of areas Co-ordinated the the Climate Action Network, South Asia which is a network of more than 40 premier NGOs of South Asia. In this duration, the Network successfully influenced international climate negotiations, conducted capacity building of civil society organizations and built up a strong platform for collaborative action by the NGOsEnterprise Development & Income Generation Initiatives, including setting up enterprises for clean drinking water and clean energy services in rural areas, innovation and testing of micro– finance loan products for rural housing, enterprises to promote waste dust utilisation to encourage cleaner production in highly polluting stone-crushing units etc.
