Worked on live project involving quantitative analysis of Mutual Funds to solve the problems involved with benchmarking and thus performance evaluation of mutual funds due to their often churning portfolio (thus Nifty/Sensex, etc cannot be used as a benchmark), leading to a change in the risk-reward expectations from the fund.The project involved using Style Analysis as a tool to create individual benchmarks for each fund under consideration based on their portfolios at the beginning of each quarter.The benchmarks were used to evaluate the funds performance by using various metrics like tracking error, semi-deviation, Jenson's alpha, etc.Subsequently I used in-sample, out-sample testing to come out with a filter to choose the best funds from the consideration set, giving more weight to consistent out-performance.
