(Self Employed) Ui Design. Ux Architecture. Iconography & Visual Design.Geometrix Design Studio 1996 - PresentI craft highly organized and intuitively relatable interfaces, out of complicated data, for humans and bots. My work spans 20+ years (ok, more like 30... are we done counting yet?) of pioneering UI and UX in software applications and navigational displays for clients from enterprise to startup. I'm especially adept helping clients in edgy industrial sectors such as mechanical engineering, manufacturing, HVAC, architecture, medical, mathematics, etc. I've launched the careers of 4 junior designers via 1:1 mentoring, hands-on paid experience designing shipping products, design reviews, and most importantly—just being there, consistently over time, with an active-listening ear and clear advice. I've also created an original 'Learning To See' workshop training which I freely offer to business groups of business analysts, systems engineers & feature developers needing to finally understand what UX really is, and how to deliver a UI which makes good on the promise.I'm all-inclusive with all the acronyms... UI • UX • IxD • IA • HCI • UCD • HFI... (more alpha numerics as they emerge!) I'm a poster child for 'Skill-Stacking'! I draw on *all* of my career-adjacent experiences for how I see and solve problems in uniquely workable ways. I've never designed something that can't be built—even when the builders haven't built something like that before. My gift is to help people tap into their own creative resources and showing them new ways of doing things thought previously impossible, even with the same old tools. We're at a moment where high-tech really needs high-touch—and I'm really good at both.Ingenuity + Imagination, coupled with a **playful approach** to Critical Thinking (yes! truth!) is what I believe will successfully drive the emerging future of innovation. Come play with me, and let's solve very serious stuff!

Sr. Ux DesignerFresenius Medical Care North America Apr 2022 - Apr 2023Bad Homburg, Frankfurt, DeThis role was 50% UX/UI, 50% HumanFactors + Research. Among the many accomplishments I achieved during a particularly busy year in UX initiatives at Fresenius, I did these things... > Created inspiring & attention-commanding UI’s for CareTeamHub, a connected health application, in support of role-based, healthcare outcomes for frontline caregivers in dialysis clinics. Led multiple, monthly UX roundtable discussions with end users (3-6 users per group.) Collected additional user behavior and insights, using mixed methods. > Introduced accessibility measures in information display where none had previously existed.Provided creative work-around and push-back solutions using Salesforce + CSS, for offshore engineering teams when roadblocks appeared during development. > Presented and defended key design deliverables to executive level stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and UX peer groups. Provided strategic design vision & facilitated hand-off for future development, using my own unique invention of a communication process “Personifying the UI,” which was very well received. #quirkworks -

Introduction of modernized gauge clusters and reimagined live-feed, data history monitoring. Small team with 2 developers. Built with SVG graphics and CSS exported directly from my Sketch files. Educated client in UX, Visual Design, and Color Accessibility principles. Hired & mentored additional design support. Executive presentations. -
Principal Designer • 3D Interaction & Data VisualizationDassault Systèmes Jul 2015 - Mar 2019Vélizy-Villacoublay, FrIdeated multiple interface designs—wholly scalable design solutions for web + mobile from the ground up (ie. blank-canvas, zero2sixty design)—for a zero2sixty of a B2C, B2B, B2B2C digital platform in the configurable 3D product design space. Using the SolidWorks math engine underneath, my easy-to-use intuitive interfaces on top, and a world-class photorealistic visualizer in between… an everyday shopper could design & purchase unique items they designed themselves—from a teddy bear... to... *literally* a MAC truck! Additionally, hired-out and oversaw the execution of a fully-connected font, created specifically in mind for inclusion of 3D-printed, freeform words in jewelry product design. This long-term, and ever-unfolding project requqired every bit of me, and my skillset— product strategy, feature development, navigating ambiguity, toolset design, interaction design, visual design, brand application, 3D visualization solutions, executive presentation, user validation and user test design. Not to mention the “ho hum” of everyday nuts n bolts—user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI mockups, clickable prototypes, asset generation and documentation. -
Sr. Ux DesignerImprivata Nov 2014 - Mar 2015Waltham, Ma, UsWorked on improvements and feature additions for OneSign®, a SSO password management and virtual desktop roaming platform. (Desktop only.) Performed general IA, workflows, wireframes, mockups, user stories and bug fixing tasks.Provided additional UI/UX design for Confirm ID ® Secure, a token-generator app for hands free authorization. (Mobile only.) Primary contributions were visual design, responsive design, Xcode for iPhone, skin assets, and skin-building documentation specs. Created original iconography and assets for Cortext® Secure mobile, a messaging app for nurse–doctor communications -
Lead Ux Design ArchitectInvolution Studios May 2013 - Jun 2013Arlington, Ma, UsI was hired to lead an 8-week product design discovery project for the healthcare space, culminating in a ground-up design & revised product strategy for a connected, app-prescription platform to help clinicians serve their patients’ needs for behaviour or lifestyle change, in a new way. I was the lead UI/UX designer, responsible for the holistic design of the core product experience and it’s interface. I also helped fill gaps in the stakeholder's early roadmapping & visioning process, using visual scribing and note-sketching practices. I chaired weekly remote presentations with the executive stakeholders, collecting feedback with wireframes & walkthroughs, detailing and vetting every aspect and raison d’etre of the UI— its layout, touch-points, & interactions. Project was 80% iPad; 20% smartphone. -
Principal, Product Definition • Visual Design LeadPtc Jan 2009 - Apr 2013Boston, Massachusetts, UsPrimarily, I worked on Creo Parametric, Creo Direct, and Mathcad Prime. Additionally, I supplied continual design effort to Pro/ENGINEER® Wildfire 5 + all its modules. I am particularly proud of my early involvement in the first releases of Creo Direct, Creo Flexible Modeling, 3D Annotations, and Mathcad Prime. I was the Lead Visual UI Designer for multiple, globally scattered teams in service of development and adoption of innovative approaches to 3D-geometry manipulation, 3-D widgets and cursors, smart 2D-sketching, animation sequencing, and a vast array of other feature tools & geometry visualizations—any ONE of which, could fill up an entire TEDtalk :) Above and beyond creating pixel-perfect interfaces and icon assets across PTC’s full product suite, I also executed 4 full product re-skins—Pro/Engineer Wildfire (4.0 to 5.0), Creo 1.0-3.0, MathCad to Creo Mathcad Prime, and the Creo-ization of Co-Create. I hired, managed and mentored, and directed in-house, agency, and sub-contract design resources for the task, with a starting budget of $250k. I was given an additional $100K to build out a toolkit design system and spearhead the creation of a wiki-based pattern library. This was the company’s first ever pattern library! (Footnote: Getting that wiki project adopted, and paid for, was more than a big deal, jus’ sayin’…) Self-taught to Design/Cut/Code skins and UI toolkit buttons using PTC’s proprietary code & test harnesses. (Dev approved!) Heavy task-switching among critically complex feature sets, and on-the-spot, insightful problem-solving in an urgent-need environment. -
