I was responsible for mechanical design of innovative special purpose automation systems for seed and crop research at Monsanto. These customized one-of-a-kind systems were computer controlled electro-mechanical and electro-pneumatic machines. Depending on the requirements, the design involved robotics, machine vision and imaging, indexing, pick and place, gripping, conveying etc. Besides R&D and commissioning of these highly advanced machines, I was responsible for costing, value engineering, vendor management. As my role grew, I was responsible for managing a project which involved various work streams such as mechanical, electrical, electronics and software design.
