I felt there was a place for women across the industry to network, share ideas and work together to improve female representation. We should better represent the society we serve so our profession needs to become more diverse, particularly in positions of influence (such as advisers), and in leadership roles. My other reason for starting the group is that female consumers are under-protected, and whilst this issue also affects men, our industry's lack of female representation and tendency to focus on the needs of breadwinners and the traditional nuclear family isn't helping women to see the need for protection. Whilst the group was founded with women particularly as our focus, we believe our industry's communications should appeal to all sections of society such as lone parents, business women, part-timers, LGBT, young renters, single people and older parents. I’m very fortunate to now run the group with four fantastic women, all committed to making a difference to our market, our industry colleagues and improve consumer outcomes. Our group now has members from a range of protection related organisations including the insurers, re-insurers, tech firms and distributors. We meet quarterly, and held our first conference in December 2018. We’ve now held a total of four successful annual conferences with our 2024 event to be held on 2nd May. I was the inaugural Chair of the Protection Distributors Group - a consumer focussed organisation made up of leading Protection intermediaries. During my tenure I helped to lead its Funeral Payment Pledge and Claims Charter campaigns to improve outcomes for claimants.

I'm responsible for managing our business relationships with each provider. I help providers to maximise opportunities within LifeSearch and work with them to ensure we can deliver high levels of advice and service to our customers. I advise providers on the strengths and weaknesses of their propositions to help them increase business with LifeSearch and other intermediaries.Internally I am also involved with complaint resolution and maintaining best practice.
